Ukraine’s emergency medics save lives in the field
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service says its first-responder medical teams are trained to provide emergency relief directly at the scene of disasters, playing a crucial role in rescue operations before traditional emergency medical services arrive.
During a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine, Nataliia Yashan, head of the Medical Support Department at the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, outlined how these rescue units operate under high-risk conditions.
“After completing their training, our medics are authorized to provide medical assistance to both personnel and victims directly in the emergency rescue zone,” Yashan said. “We call them rescue medics because they also take part in the emergency efforts.”
