Ukraine reports 62 POWs have defected to fight for russia

Ukrainian intelligence has confirmed at least 62 cases of prisoners of war joining russian forces, according to Ukrainian officials.

Dmytro Usov, brigadier general and secretary of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, said during the third international Crimea Global conference that russia has formed four units staffed by captured Ukrainians who have defected: the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Battalion, the Maksym Kryvonis Battalion, the Martyn Pushkar Detachment, and the Matrosov Detachment.

“These are the units to which our captured soldiers are assigned. We have confirmed 62 contracts signed with the Ministry of Defense of russia, and they are already fighting in these units. There is also one soldier who was captured by us.”
