Ukraine poised to support Europe’s production of critical medicines – Health Ministry
Europe is facing a shortage of essential medicines and is actively seeking new partners to stabilize supply chains. One of the regions under consideration is Ukraine, as shown by a pharmaceutical plant mapping initiative conducted last year by the European Research Area (ERA).
The findings were shared by Maryna Slobodnichenko, Deputy Minister of Health for European Integration, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Today, the pharmaceutical sector is one of the key industries sustaining the Ukrainian economy,” Slobodnichenko said. “It is important not only to preserve the progress we’ve already made, but also to expand local production facilities in Ukraine. We are working to attract foreign investors to support the growth of the pharmaceutical industry here. Today, we are already in a position, as a country, to supply critical medicines to international markets.”
According to the Health Ministry, Ukraine currently manufactures 37 critical medicines through a fully domestic production cycle, without relying on raw materials from India or China, an advantage that is drawing attention from European investors.
