Ukraine plans to boost electricity imports from Europe to mitigate winter shortages
Ukraine is considering increasing electricity imports from Europe to address potential winter shortages.
Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo, announced this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Our power system’s capacity for imported resources is quite significant. At present, the limiting factors are certain bottlenecks on the European side, specifically within their network. At our persistent request, the European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E) is calculating how to bypass these bottlenecks and determine how much we can increase imports from Europe to Ukraine for the winter. This would enhance our electricity grid and reduce the winter deficit. We expect a decision by winter, with the goal of minimizing the winter shortfall,” Kudrytskyi explained.
