Ukraine now has 1,041 temporary military medical commissions: MIHR study reveals reform impact

Following the reform of military medical commissions (MMC), the number of temporary commissions in Ukraine has significantly increased. While there were 759 such commissions at the beginning of 2022, there are now 1,041 operating across the country.

This was revealed during the presentation of the study “Blind Spots of the MMC: How the Examination System Works in Ukraine,” at the Media Center Ukraine by co-author Iryna Yakovets, an analyst at the Media Initiative for Human Rights.

“What has the reform achieved? First, it has increased the number of temporary MMCs. In early 2022, there were 759 such commissions; today, there are 1,041. Essentially, the primary goal of the reform — expanding access for people to undergo MMC examinations in various healthcare facilities — has been achieved,” Yakovets noted.
