Ukraine will need to purchase at least 3 billion cubic meters of gas for the next heating season.

This assessment was shared by Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Industry Research Center, during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.

“The problem is that traditionally we accumulate gas for the heating season during the summer, mostly from domestic production. Now the situation is such that some production capacities will be restored, while others will not, making it impossible to fully prepare for the next season using only domestic gas. The current shortage is assessed differently. The Ministry of Energy has officially announced the need to purchase 1 billion cubic meters, but I think this figure is completely unrealistic. The minimum requirement is 3 billion, and possibly even more,” Kharchenko said.
