Ukraine must counter russian myths in Africa with asymmetric strategies – Expert

russia is promoting narratives in Africa to portray itself as an anti-colonial force and an alternative to the West. In response, Ukraine should emphasize its authentic history, which closely aligns with the experiences of African nations.

This perspective was shared by Yurii Oliinyk, a representative of the analytical center “Ukrainian Studies for Strategic Research”, during a discussion at Media Center Ukraine. 

“We must act asymmetrically to debunk the myths russia spreads. russia falsely claims that it is not a colonizer, that it is fighting NATO, and that it offers an alternative. But we can counter this with facts – no need to invent anything. Our history shares parallels with that of African states. We were colonized, we won our freedom, and now we are defending it against neo-colonial interference,” Oliinyk emphasized.
