Ukraine may experience a surge in COVID throughout August and September
According to forecasts, the increase in the COVID incidence in August and September isn’t expected to exceed the inter-epidemic indicators nor lead to the introduction of anti-epidemic measures.
Ihor Kuzin, Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“We predict that we are likely to see an increase in August. And this surge will continue up to and including September. I would like to remind you that the ARI and influenza epidemic season will begin in September. As a rule, by September and October, we typically begin to see the first signs of other respiratory viruses circulating. And other respiratory viruses sufficiently limit the circulation of COVID. Because it is highly unlikely for three, four or five different respiratory viruses to circulate simultaneously. Therefore, it is most likely that the surge in the infection rate during August and September will definitely be observed in our country as well. And the prediction is that it should not exceed the indicators of the inter-epidemic period, it should definitely not lead to anti-epidemic measures,” said Ihor Kuzin.
