Ukraine maintains treatment for patients with rare diseases amid war
As the war continues, Ukraine has maintained the supply of medicines for patients with rare, or orphan, diseases, covering about 80% of those with serious conditions who remain in the country and continue to receive treatment.
Tetiana Kulesha, head of the NGO Orphan Diseases of Ukraine, made the statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“During the war, we did not reduce funding for treating patients with orphan diseases. This year’s government-provided funds will cover 80 to 90% of patient needs, while the remaining 10 to 20% will be met using supplies carried over from previous years,” she added.
