Ukraine launches first aid course “Stop the Blood, Save the Limb” to train one million citizens

Ukraine has introduced an innovative first aid course called “Stop the Blood, Save the Limb,” aiming to teach vital bleeding control techniques. Developed by the International Charitable Foundation “Health of the Ukrainian People” in collaboration with the Association of First Aiders and Tactical Medical Operators and Instructors, the initiative seeks to overhaul public understanding of first aid, grounded in the real-world experiences of Ukrainians. The project plans to train one million people in the coming years.

Leonid Fedorovskyi, Chairman of the Association of First Aiders and Tactical Medical Operators and Instructors, shared details of the initiative during a press conference at the Media Center Ukraine, following a specialized training session.

“We’ve concluded that saving lives is everyone’s responsibility. By studying the experiences of other countries, we’ve found that decentralized training is the most effective approach. This isn’t just about mandatory classes; it’s about giving people the flexibility to learn in a way that works for them. We have a target to train one million operators, with the first milestone set at 100,000 trainees in the near future,” Fedorovskyi said.

The full rollout of the program is expected in December, offering comprehensive participation across various course modules.
