Ukraine is lagging behind last year’s export figures

Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council, stated that Ukraine’s export figures are lagging behind this year. During the same period last year, over 10 million tons of grain were shipped; this year, however, only 6 million tons have been shipped.

Marchuk made these remarks during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“This problem is largely related to internal factors. Specifically, it concerns the export of rapeseed and soybeans. A law was adopted in Ukraine that imposed a 10% duty on these crops. This applied to both private producers and cooperatives. For private farmers, this was unprofitable. A legal solution is currently being developed to resolve this situation and accelerate exports,” he explained.
