Ukraine is a global leader in combating viral diseases, according to the Public Health Center
Despite the high prevalence of hepatitis C virus, Ukraine remains a global leader setting trends in overcoming viral diseases. This year, at least 80,000 patients will be screened for hepatitis, and over 2 million will be tested for hepatitis C. This was announced by Iryna Skrypka, specialist in the management and prevention of viral hepatitis and opioid dependence at the Public Health Center, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“In Ukraine, the prevalence of the hepatitis C virus exceeds 5%. According to WHO estimates, this is a high rate. The clinical form of the disease affects 3.5% of Ukrainians. However, despite this, we remain a leader in combating viral diseases,” Skrypka said.
Since the full-scale invasion, the situation with the spread of the virus has worsened.
