Ukraine has developed its own national preventive plan to prevent violations of children’s rights
Ukraine has developed its own national preventive plan to prevent violations of children’s rights during armed conflicts on Ukrainian territory and to reduce the risk of children becoming victims of war crimes committed by the russian federation.
This was stated by Yulia Usenko, Head of the Department for the Protection of Children’s Rights and Combating Domestic Violence of the Prosecutor General’s Office, at a press conference held at the Media Center Ukraine.
“From the very first year of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine was included in the UN Secretary-General’s report. Since then, the monitoring of children’s rights has been carried out under the so-called ‘Children in Armed Conflict’ mechanism. Today, Ukraine has become an active participant in this monitoring mechanism and has developed its own national preventive plan. This is necessary to prevent violations of children’s rights during armed conflicts on Ukrainian territory and to reduce the risk of children becoming victims of war crimes committed by the russian federation. And also to bring these violations to the attention of the international community,” she said.
