Trust in the russian government has plummeted – Research findings

One of the main reasons russians cite for the economic crisis in russia is government incompetence. Specifically, 42% of respondents believe this to be the case, marking one of the highest recorded levels of distrust in the russian government.

“Government incompetence as a cause of the economic crisis [ed.] was cited by 42% of respondents. In essence, this is the first time in history we have seen such a high level of distrust in the government. This is despite the fact that, as the survey shows, Mishustin is one of the most popular russian politicians. But this indicator is very important to understand that when people are not asked direct questions, they begin to answer differently, which means they begin to think this way,” the political analyst explained.

Vadym Denysenko, who has been researching public opinion in russia for three years, noted that such a high level of distrust in the government has never been observed before.

“I don’t think we’ve seen anything like this since Medvedev’s resignation. The last time we had a comparable situation was probably when Medvedev stepped down,” he added.

It is worth noting that this survey was conducted via telephone in russia, encompassing 1,200 respondents.
