Treason charges against NABU detectives are a planned attack on anti-corruption agencies – SAPO Head

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) must publicly disclose all evidence supporting its treason accusations against the two NABU detectives. Oleksandr Klymenko, Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), voiced this demand during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“In my opinion, the materials which appeared in the media are insufficient to justify detaining two NABU specialists on suspicion of treason. These cases are high-profile and clearly part of a coordinated attack on anti-corruption institutions. After that, there was a decision that deprived us of our independence. The situation with NABU and SAPO has been rectified, but not with these detectives. Full transparency from the SBU is crucial to proving that these suspicions are well-founded,” said Klymenko.

He emphasized that the staff of the anti-corruption agency currently believes that the detectives are being detained as retribution for their investigations — a revenge from the security service.
