Thousands of areas affected by power outages in Ukraine after heavy wet snow knocked down power lines

Roughly 1,000 settlements across Ukraine are currently without electricity after heavy wet snow and ice buildup brought down local distribution lines

Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Industry Research Center, reported the figure during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Such lines must be physically restored, which takes quite a long time. Most of these settlements are concentrated in the western part of Ukraine. Power will be restored within a day and a half to a day,” the expert said.
