This year, Ukraine plans to demine 65,000 hectares of agricultural land, with 20% already cleared

As of today, 11,600 hectares of agricultural land have been cleared of landmines, accounting for nearly 20% of the planned demining target.

This was announced by Taras Vysotskyi, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“This year, we have prioritized the demining of 65,000 hectares in Ukraine-controlled territories. Of these, 11,600 hectares – almost 20% – have already been monitored, inspected, demined and returned to cultivation. In fact, we can say that by the end of this year, most of the agricultural land in the controlled territories will be returned to use,” Vysotskyi said.

According to him, last year, nearly 300,000 hectares were inspected, cleared of landmines where necessary, and returned to cultivation.

“These are significant areas that have been restored, and farmers will be planting them this year. This primarily includes Kherson, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv oblasts,” he added.
