This year’s applicants overwhelmingly chose Ukrainian universities – Ministry of Education

The 2025 university admissions campaign in Ukraine concluded on October 20. According to the Ministry of Education and Science, there was increased competition for each state-funded spot. Management, psychology, philology, law, and marketing emerged as the most popular fields of study.

Mykola Trofymenko, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Education and Science, made this announcement during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Fewer applicant profiles were created this year — only 484,000. The number of active profiles is also lower than last year, at 92% of those registered. However, the number of applications has increased. This year, 1,167,000 applications were submitted, compared to 1,055,000 last year. A total of 195,000 students enrolled in higher education institutions this year — almost 5,000 more than last year,” he said.

Trofymenko noted that more than 98,000 students were admitted to state-funded programs at all educational levels, while more than 207,000 enrolled on a contract basis.
