The Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation currently has the smallest number of deputies in the history of Ukrainian parliamentarism – CHESNO Movement
Over five years, more than 53 deputies have resigned their mandates, reducing the Verkhovna Rada to a record low number of deputies, but it continues to function in this state.
This was reported by Sofia Lazarova, an analyst from the CHESNO movement, during the presentation of research results at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Currently, 401 deputies work in the Verkhovna Rada, which is also a unique phenomenon. Fifty-three deputies have resigned their mandates prematurely,” she said.
According to her, the analysis shows that the resignations occurred in two major waves – at the beginning of the current convocation, when some elected MPs transitioned to work in the newly formed Cabinet of Ministers, and after the full-scale invasion in 2022.
