The Inferno website has been launched in Ukraine, compiling all information about the conditions of Ukrainian prisoners of war in russian captivity
The Association of Families of Azovstal Defenders and the International Cooperation Department of the 1st Azov Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine launched the site, which provides comprehensive information about prisons in russia and on temporarily occupied territories, as well as the conditions of Ukrainian prisoners of war, including torture, starvation, denial of medical care, and psychological violence. The site features testimonies from individuals who survived the horrors of Olenivka, Taganrog, and pretrial detention centers across russia.
This information was shared during a presentation at Media Center Ukraine.
“With this project, we aimed to expose the reality faced by Ukrainian POWs in russian captivity — torture, starvation, withheld medical care, and the stripping of all rights guaranteed by the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War,” said Nestor Barchuk, representative of the International Cooperation Department of the 1st Azov Corps.
He explained that the website systematically documents crimes against Ukrainian POWs in russian captivity.
The website contains a page for each facility, detention center, or colony where the russian federation is illegally holding Ukrainians. Each page has its own subsections: general information, details on torture and abuse, access to medical care. All information is based on the testimonies of Ukrainian POWs.
“Every quote is a direct account from survivors. These individuals endured beatings, electric shocks, solitary confinement, and starvation,” Barchuk emphasized.
A central feature of the site is an interactive map of russia and occupied territories that illustrates the deliberate state policy of torturing prisoners.
The project targets Ukrainian and foreign journalists, international partners, and allies to highlight the truth about Ukrainian POW conditions.
The platform is currently available in Ukrainian and English and plans to expand to additional languages.
