The European Business Association has outlined the challenges that may cause some companies to move into the “shadows”
New tax obligations, which have been added to existing unresolved business issues, may now cause some transparent taxpayers to move into the “shadows”.
This was stated by Anna Derevyanko, Executive Director of the European Business Association, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“The main challenges for companies right now are: the issue of mobilization, which is causing a shortage of labor in the market, and access to electricity. Therefore, if we see that the issue of labor shortage and mobilization is not resolved, and on top of that additional tax obligations are imposed, this will indeed push some transparent taxpayers into the ‘shadows’. This is probably the biggest risk posed by this draft law (ed. – “On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine on the Specifics of Taxation during Martial Law” (No. 11416-d)),” said Anna Derevyanko.
At the same time, she raised the issue of economic conscription deferrals, which, in her opinion, could have a positive impact on the labor market and prevent companies from going into the “shadows”.
“And once again we return to the idea that it is worthwhile to introduce economic conscription deferrals to ‘whiten’ the wage market and, in general, the labor market. Otherwise, we will gradually slide into the ‘shadow’ in this context,” Derevyanko explained.
