The economic situation in the russian federation is much worse than half of russian experts claim – Victoriia Podhorna

The upcoming scenarios of developments in russia are not very positive, while researchers note an unprecedented level of fragility in the russian federation.

This was stated by MP Victoriia Podhorna, Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Digital Transformation, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“We are conducting a foresight study on russia, which is almost complete. A team of 46 volunteers collected weak signals from all sources, even in China, not only russian public sources, but also from Portugal, Brazil and other countries. There are more than two thousand signals and over 35,000 studies that we have examined, including russian demographics. I can say that the scenarios for the near future are not very positive in terms of what will happen with russia. However, we are noting an unprecedented level of fragility in russia,” she stated.

According to Victoriia Podhorna, the research showed that most of the signals were deliberately framed positively for the russian audience. However, the reality in the russian federation is quite different from what is being declared, especially regarding the economy of the aggressor country.

“And only the correlation of facts provides an understanding of what is happening in the russian economy. The economic situation is much worse than what half of russian experts claim, even those who consider themselves liberals. This is because, first of all, they do not rely on objective information. Secondly, they are russia-centric, and their assessment is not true. The situation in russia is much worse than they say. And it could explode at any moment,” she explained.

At the same time, Victoriia Podhorna noted that while most scenarios do not show rapid changes with regard to russia, one scenario shows the potential for a very rapid decline.

“And this is based on a study of the economic trends that are being observed in russia, which are in many ways unprecedentedly negative,” she added.
