The Deposit Guarantee Fund has paid over UAH 100 billion to failed bank depositors since its inception
The Deposit Guarantee Fund has been paying out deposits of insolvent banks for 25 years. To date, the funds have been paid to more than 2.5 million people.
These data were announced by Svitlana Rekrut, Managing Director of the Deposit Guarantee Fund, during the deposit return service presentation, which is already available in Diia, at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“The numbers are really impressive. As of today, more than 2.5 million people have received payouts. 100 banks have gone bankrupt, and the amount to be paid out has already exceeded UAH 100 billion, or UAH 103 billion to be exact,” she said.
In addition, Svitlana Rekrut noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Fund has paid almost UAH 8.3 billion in guaranteed compensation.
It is worth noting that Ukraine citizens will now be able to receive compensation for deposits in bankrupt banks in a few clicks in Diia.
