Ten million people have crossed Ukraine’s border since the start of 2025 – Ukrainian State Border Guard Service
In the first four months of 2025, a total of ten million people crossed Ukraine’s borders in both directions, marking a three percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the State Border Guard Service.
SBGS spokesperson Andrii Demchenko shared this data during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Transportation flow is currently normal in all directions, including the border with Poland. Regarding passenger traffic, it can be noted that 10 million people crossed Ukraine’s borders in total during these four months, including both entries and exits. Compared to the same period in 2024, this is a 3% rise,” Demchenko stated.
In April, 2.7 million people crossed the border, which is 8% more than in March. Demchenko attributes this increase to the Easter holidays.
“Easter holidays naturally boosted the numbers, but after the holidays, passenger traffic began to decline again. Currently, we don’t see a sharp rise. On weekdays, the average daily crossing is 80,000–85,000 people, while on weekends, it is up to 95,000 people per day in both directions,” Demchenko said.
He highlighted that border traffic could rise significantly with the start of the summer vacation season.
“In a few weeks, the summer period and vacation season will begin. Based on last year, we can expect passenger traffic to start growing in early June. It can grow quite strongly. Last year, weekend crossings reached 130,000 people per day in both directions,” Demchenko noted.
