Survey: Majority of Ukrainians believe in a shared future with residents of occupied territories
A significant portion of the Ukrainian populace holds a strong belief in a joint future with the residents of territories occupied since 2014 and 2022, according to recent survey results.
This was highlighted by Daria Svyrydova, Member of the Advisory Council on De-occupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of the Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol under the President of Ukraine, during a presentation at the Media Center Ukraine. The study explored the challenges of reintegrating these regions and preserving historical memory.
“We are seeing a positive trend. There is a notably high level of confidence among Ukrainians in the prospect of a common future with those living in the temporarily occupied territories. For the regions occupied since 2022, nearly 90% of Ukrainians envision a unified future. For Crimea and the eastern regions occupied since 2014, more than 70% share this optimism,” Svyrydova stated.
The findings are drawn from a series of in-depth interviews conducted in recently de-occupied areas, as well as a national survey carried out by the Sociological Group “Rating” between July 5-12, 2024.
