State Emergency Service: Over 300 killed and 800 injured by explosive hazards in Ukraine
More than 300 people, including 18 children, have been killed and over 800 others injured by explosive ordnance in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion.
These figures were announced by Serhii Reva, Head of the Department for Organizational Work on Humanitarian Demining at the Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“The public has become more aware of the dangers posed by explosive hazards. However, there are still cases where people are injured or killed. As of today, unfortunately, we have grim statistics: since the start of the full-scale invasion, more than 800 people have been injured and more than 300 have lost their lives – including, tragically, 18 children,” he said.
Reva noted that most of the incidents have occurred in de-occupied territories, where the threat of mines remains critically high.
“Naturally, these incidents occur mostly in de-occupied territories. While the frequency has decreased somewhat, the risk of injury from unexploded ordnance in these areas remains extremely high,” the SESU official added.
