State Border Guard Service of Ukraine clarifies the new exit rules for men aged 18-22
The new border crossing rules for men aged 18-22 have already taken effect.
Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, announced this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“As of 6 AM, border guards have begun processing men aged 18 to 22. The government reviewed several categories of citizens. This applies to men aged 18 to 22, inclusive. Changes regarding women who are deputies of local councils were also considered. While the changes for men have already taken effect, the changes for women deputies have not yet been published,” he said.
According to Demchenko, border inspectors at checkpoints are already processing those in this age group who wish to leave. He reminded that these changes do not apply to men in this age group who fall under paragraph 2.14 of the border crossing rules. This refers to individuals holding positions in local government bodies or local self-government institutions. These individuals may only travel abroad on official business.
“For a man aged 18-22 to travel abroad, he must have a foreign passport and a military registration document, both in paper and electronic format. Without this document, a person may be denied border crossing,” Demchenko explained.
Demchenko noted that there has been no increase in departures among this group at any checkpoint.
