Starting in July, all pharmacies were supposed to join the Affordable Medicines program – NHSU
Pharmacies that refuse to participate in the state program risk losing their licenses.
Natalia Husak, head of the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU), announced this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Starting July 1, 2025, all pharmacies must enroll in the Affordable Medicines program. Last year, this requirement was introduced for hospital-based pharmacies. To date, we have over two thousand contracts, accounting for 68% of all pharmacy establishments,” she said.
Husak emphasized that the NHSU is open to signing contracts, and pharmacies that refuse to join may lose their license: “All barriers to joining the program have been removed. Medications are now dispensed exclusively via e-prescriptions.”
The head of the NHSU added that the service aims to expand the program to include websites where patients select their medications. This would enable people to use their prescription code to locate the nearest pharmacy that has their medication in stock.
