“Sowing Campaign in Sumy Oblast Is 95% Finished Due to Rapid Mine Clearing,” Head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration
Dmytro Zhyvytskyy, Head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration, disclosed this during his briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“We have relatively good performance results of the sowing campaign for a region on the border. We sowed about 95% of the last year’s area. We are preparing to gather the grain harvest in Sumy Oblast to ensure safety for our agrarians,” he said.
It became possible due to the rapid mine clearing in the Oblast. By now, 1.5 million hectares in Sumy Oblast have been inspected and demined. The mine-clearing effort involved demining units of all agencies.
“At the initial stage of demining, we had casualties involving utility workers and locals. However, according to our mine clearance experts, we are working very fast,” he said.
