Since the start of the year, there have been 3,000 fires in ecosystems, and 4 people have died – State Emergency Service

Fire crews at the State Emergency Service have shifted to enhanced operations due to the risk of fires in ecosystems. Serhiy Batechko, deputy head of the Department of Civil Protection and Preventive Activities at the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, spoke about this at the Ukraine Media Center.

“As of March 18, 2026, more than 3,000 fires have occurred in natural ecosystems, killing 4 people and injuring 15,” he said.
