Since the start of the year, 59 people have died in water-related incidents, including five children – State Emergency Service 

Since the start of the year, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has recorded half as many deaths on ice as last year. Oleksandr Khorunzhiy, spokesperson for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, made this statement at the Ukraine Media Center. 

“Since the beginning of the year, 59 people have died in water bodies, including five children. In 2025, 142 people died, including 11 children. The State Emergency Service is currently recording a peak in the number of deaths in water bodies. It is during this period, not in winter,” the rescuer noted.
