Shmyhal’s appointment as Defense Minister could positively impact weapons procurement from partners – Fedir Venislavskyi

Denys Shmyhal, the new Defense Minister, has extensive contacts with foreign partners and will be able to fully focus on securing weapons for Ukraine. Fedir Venislavskyi, MP and member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, stated this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Denys Shmyhal’s foreign policy contacts will be significant enough to strengthen the momentum of U.S. assistance to Ukraine. As Defense Minister, he will engage even more deeply in the weapons procurement process and prioritize it. This is cause for optimism,” he said.

According to Venislavskyi, signals and actions from the U.S. and European partners indicate that Ukraine will soon receive a new batch of weapons, including air defense systems.
