Seven victims, fires in warehouses and damage to buildings – State Emergency Service on consequences of enemy attack on Ukraine’s southern regions

Once again, the southern regions of Ukraine suffered from terrorist attacks by the russian federation. Odesa region was hit the hardest. Preliminary there are five victims who were inside a multi-apartment residential buildings damaged by the fragments of missiles from unmanned aerial vehicles.

Oleksandr Khorunzhyy, Press Officer of the State Emergency Service, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“We used 140 emergency workers and 36 units of fire-rescue special equipment to eliminate the consequences of russian shelling. During these attacks, according to preliminary information, Five civilians were injured, including those who were in multi-apartment residential buildings,” he said.

In addition, Oleksandr Khorunzhyy clarified that after 2:00 AM, an attack was made on Odesa region, and a rocket hit one of the markets. There, according to him, a fire broke out in seven two-story warehouse buildings on an area of about 2,000 square meters.

“43 rescuers and 10 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire that broke out here. The fire was actually put out only in the morning, because the area of the fire was 2,000 square meters, which is a really large area. It was liquidated at 8:52 AM,” he said.

In addition, Oleksandr Khorunzhyy reported another hit on a warehouse where tobacco products had been stored. It caused a fire with an area of 1,000 meters.

“Another hit was in the warehouse where tobacco products had been stored. There, a fire broke out in an area of 1,000 square meters, about 5 units of fire-rescue equipment and 14 rescuers were involved. The mobile operative group of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Odesa region was dispatched to the scene, and at 8:30 AM this fire was extinguished,” he added.

According to the Spokesperson of the State Emergency Service, during the enemy attack on a settlement in Kobleve community, Mykolaiv region, some recreational infrastructure facilities in the coastal zone were destroyed and set on fire. According to him, there is currently information about two victims of this enemy attack.

“On-duty patrols of several fire and rescue units, including the Kobleve village fire department, were dispatched to the site. The fire covered a large area, and the fire fighters brought this fire under control even during the second wave of the enemy attack. The blast wave damaged a number of nearby buildings and a car. In general, we currently know about two victims of this enemy attack on Mykolaiv region, and one of them was hospitalized in a medical facility,” Oleksandr Khorunzhyy reported.

The personnel of the State Emergency Service and the local fire department were not injured.
