Seven people died on Ukrainian waters since the beginning of the year – State Emergency Service

Since the beginning of 2025, seven people have died on water bodies in different regions of Ukraine.

This information was shared by Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, a spokesman for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Since the beginning of 2025, from January 1 to today, seven people have died on the water. The incidents vary, but most of them are related to fishing. People are venturing out on thin ice, even though the current temperatures are unstable. We’ve seen fluctuating weather – some days are above freezing and some days are below. When temperatures are constantly changing, the ice becomes fragile,” Khorunzhyi explained.

According to him, fatalities have been recorded in the Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Volyn, Kyiv, Lviv and Khmelnytskyi oblasts.
