Security in the Black Sea region requires the establishment of strong alliances – Moldovan Ministry of Defense

Events in the Black Sea region have demonstrated that ensuring maritime security is only possible through collective action, such as by forming strong intergovernmental alliances.

Moldova’s Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, made this statement during the Third Black Sea Security Conference of the International Crimea Platform.

“In a changing political landscape, security in the Black Sea region requires efforts, including from the European Union. The sovereignty and integrity of the countries in the Black Sea region can only be ensured through partnerships, and this requires the establishment of strong alliances. Democracy, human rights, and the rule of law are the principles upon which we are building our future. Aggression has no rules or principles. Therefore, Moldova is strengthening its armed forces,” emphasized Anatolie Nosatîi.

Moldova’s Minister of Defense noted that the country is suffering from Russian propaganda and the presence of Russian troops in Transnistria, which are key challenges to the state’s security today. Therefore, Chisinau is working to counter these challenges in order to become part of the overall security architecture.

“We continue to develop our forces and capabilities to protect our citizens and infrastructure. To this end, we are adopting the best practices of our partners, particularly in the area of countering air threats,” he emphasized.

Anatolie Nosatî called on partners to strengthen cooperation to preserve the Black Sea region.
