Second-level protective structures have proven their effectiveness – Yuriy Boyko
The construction of second-level protection structures at energy facilities is yielding results – even after massive enemy attacks, it was possible to avoid critical damage to key equipment.
This was emphasized by Yuriy Boyko, advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“The serious work that has been done and is still being done to build second-level protective structures has also shown its results. And we have precedents when the enemy did not succeed in destroying our substations with a fairly rich arsenal,” he noted.
According to Yuriy Boyko, even in the event of an attack, the protective structures, especially those of the second level, allow maintaining the integrity of critical systems, which in turn significantly reduces the time needed to restore power.
“We have to understand that if a missile or a drone hits the territory of a substation, it will undoubtedly cause some damage. However, if we are able to protect key equipment in the process, the speed of restoration work increases dramatically,” he emphasized.
