Second heat wave approaches Ukraine: Meteorological Center has pinpointed the regions where temperatures will peak
Ukraine is bracing for a second wave of extreme heat, starting tomorrow, with temperatures expected to soar to 35-37 degrees Celsius in several southern and southwestern regions.
During a briefing at Media Center Ukraine, Natalia Ptukha, Spokesperson of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, detailed the upcoming weather forecast.
“Starting tomorrow, many regions in the south and southwest will face intense heat, with temperatures climbing to 35-37 degrees. The first wave of extreme heat will hit on August 17-18, but it will be somewhat contained until August 21. The most affected areas will be in southern and western Ukraine. Heatwaves are officially categorized at 35 degrees and above, and high temperatures are generally considered those up to 35 degrees. From tomorrow onwards, many regions will experience temperatures between 29 and 34 degrees, but the southwest and south will see the most extreme conditions, with temperatures possibly peaking at 37 degrees,” Ptukha explained.
These high temperatures are expected to persist until at least August 21-22, with the possibility that the heatwave could extend beyond those dates.
Despite the intense heat, Ptukha mentioned that rain showers may still occur in parts of western Ukraine. However, southeastern regions are likely to remain dry, experiencing little to no precipitation.
