Safety officials outline recommended fire extinguishers for homes and apartments
Ukrainian emergency officials are urging residents to keep fire extinguishers in their homes as a precaution against potential emergencies, highlighting that powder and carbon dioxide extinguishers are most effective for indoor use.
The recommendation was made during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine, where Anatolii Shkarbuta, a representative from the Emergency Prevention Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), emphasized the importance of preparedness.
“A 5 or 10-liter fire extinguisher is ideal for households, providing sufficient capacity to put out a fire in its early stages,” Shkarbuta stated.
He noted that powder and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are particularly well-suited for home environments due to their ease of maintenance and high efficiency in fire suppression.
Authorities also advised that fire extinguishers should be purchased exclusively from licensed retailers offering certified products to ensure their reliability and effectiveness.
