russian propaganda attempts to frame abduction of Ukrainian children as “rescue”, study reveals

russia is using propaganda to conceal or deny its crimes, particularly the deportation of Ukrainian children from occupied territories. To expose this, human rights defenders conducted research that highlights the devastating impact of russian propaganda, which distorts the reality of abduction and forced displacement.

Kseniya Kornienko, senior lawyer at the NGO “Regional Center for Human Rights”, stated this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“russian officials are attempting to present the criminal deportation of Ukrainian children as an act of ‘care’ and ‘custody’. In reality, such propaganda only obstructs the return of these children. Through its disinformation campaigns, russia tries to convince the world that it is ‘saving’ our children rather than committing crimes against them,” she said.

The study analyzed not only the media landscape of the aggressor country but also statements by its top officials.
