russian oil and gas embargo will strip kremlin of funds to wage war — Finance Minister

 A complete embargo on oil and gas from russia will take away the country’s ability to fund the war. This is why it is one of the most important tasks to be worked on in the next sanctions package. Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko said so at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine. According to him, the list of sanctioned russian banks and enterprises needs to be expanded as well. Sanctions must be also imposed against people connected to the russian leadership.

 «The imposed sanctions are not enough. Moreover, a high price for oil, gas and other typical products of russian exports create conditions for the budget surplus there. That’s why the most important task right now is a complete oil and gas embargo for the russian federation. This is what Ukrainian authorities are proactively trying to achieve on all the fronts,» — Sergii Marchenko noted.
