The negotiation process should be divided into several stages in the context of protecting the interests of Ukrainian children – the return of deported and displaced children, guarantees for children in occupied territories, and the impact of the negotiation process on the inevitability of legal accountability.
Kateryna Rashevska, a PhD in international law and an expert at the Regional Center for Human Rights, expressed this opinion during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Putin was given guarantees that the warrant would not be applied during the negotiations, despite the fact that the Rome Statute states that international crimes threaten peace and security. This means that a scheme where the warrant is simply ‘forgotten’ is impermissible,” she stated.
