russia seeks to legitimize occupation of Ukraine with German involvement – study

russia is actively involving Western foreign nationals, particularly Germans, to lend legitimacy to its occupation of Ukrainian territories. 

Speaking at the Media Center Ukraine, Yehor Brailian, an international journalist and analyst with Detector Media, outlined findings from his research conducted under the Truth to Justice project by Vitsche Berlin. 

“russia [ed.] has attempted to draw in volunteers and certain representatives from Germany to participate in various so-called referendums held in Crimea and other occupied regions,” Brailian said. ” And let’s not forget about youth outreach, where russian authorities invite German students to the occupied city of Luhansk.”

According to Brailian, these moves are part of a broader strategy aimed at normalizing the occupation in the eyes of the international community.
