russia justifies strikes on Ukraine’s energy grid as fight against “propaganda,” rights group report
The Crimean Human Rights Group says it has tracked more than 600 public remarks by russian media figures over the past year urging actions that amount to international crimes. These statements have been compiled into an open Database of russian Propagandists, which currently lists 173 individuals.
Iryna Siedova, an investigative journalist and researcher with the Crimean Human Rights Group, presented the findings during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
Siedova said russian media have sought to justify attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. “They argue that calls to bomb critical infrastructure are necessary because if the power is cut off, russian journalists won’t be able to operate, brainwash people, or turn them into Nazis.”
