russia is attempting to destroy all energy infrastructure within 100 km of the front line and the border – Energy Industry Research Center
Kyiv, Odesa, and the regions along the front line and the border are facing the most challenging energy situation. Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director of the Energy Industry Research Center, stated this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“The attacks are primarily focused on Kyiv and Odesa. Attacks are targeting thermal power plants, high-voltage power lines, and distribution networks in these regions. Within a 100-kilometer zone around the front line and the border, russians are attacking virtually all accessible infrastructure. These facilities are essentially unprotected. The Ministry of Energy did not properly prepare these facilities in advance. Now, the government is allocating funds and developing plans to protect distribution network facilities. However, these protections will not be in place before the next season,” he stated.
