russia illegally imprisoned 18 Crimean journalists and bloggers – Crimean Human Rights Group
At least 18 Crimean journalists and bloggers are currently known to be imprisoned and held in detention by the russian federation.
This was reported by Iryna Siedova, a researcher with the Crimean Human Rights Group, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“We currently have information about 18 Crimean journalists, bloggers and civic journalists who have been deprived of their personal freedom. Almost all of them are being held in the russian federation. Only one of them, Vladyslav Yesypenko, remains in occupied Crimea, while all the others have been transferred to russia and are being held in various penal colonies and pre-trial detention centers,” she said.
According to Siedova, the occupiers deliberately transfer journalists to remote russian penal colonies, limiting their ability to communicate, share information about their condition, or maintain contact with their families.
