russia has significantly reduced payments to its contract soldiers – Dilova Stolytsia
Until last month, the prevailing logic in russian society was, ‘We pay you money, you go to your death.’ However, changes occurred last month in this tacit “agreement” between the Kremlin and its citizens.
Vadym Denysenko, head of the Dilova Stolytsia analytical center, stated this at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Last month, there was a drastic decrease in payments to contract soldiers who sign up for service in the russian army. Even the highly profitable Tatarstan has sharply reduced payments to contract soldiers. This indicates that these decisions are coordinated with the Kremlin and are related to a shift in the logic of recruiting contract soldiers,” he said.
Denysenko pointed out that while last May russia was prepared for mobilization as such, it has since become evident that mobilized individuals can be compelled to sign contracts without being offered substantial compensation. He also mentioned that a large segment of russian population is experiencing a sharp decline in their standard of living. Furthermore, putin has retreated from his long-standing rule of maintaining the “untouchability” of russian elites.
Currently, putin is convinced that the war, in its current form, can only be sustained through the use of the state’s repressive apparatus.
