Russia attacked a shelter facility at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant – Oleg Korikov

This facility is not involved in electricity generation, so the enemy strike is an act of terrorism. This was stated during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center by Oleg Korikov, Chairman of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate – Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine.

“This facility is designed to serve as a barrier to the spread of radiation to humans and the environment. The enemy UAV damaged the supporting structures and the membrane that ensures tightness. The consequences of such a terrorist act are the loss of two important functions: shelter and the possibility of dismantling the reactor,” he said.
