russia again stalls prisoner-of-war exchanges despite agreed schedule – Coordination Headquarters representative
Despite prior agreements on conducting prisoner-of-war swaps regularly, russia is once again delaying the process.
Oleh Slobodianyk, a representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, made the remarks during a discussion at Media Center Ukraine.
“Unfortunately, even though we have repeatedly stated our commitment to regular exchanges, we continue to witness delays caused by the enemy,” Slobodianyk said.
He emphasized that Ukraine had reaffirmed its readiness to carry out prisoner swaps every two weeks and on a large scale, but the russian side has failed to follow through.
“We were truly committed to this process and confirmed our readiness to hold exchanges every two weeks in substantial numbers. But unfortunately, to be honest, one was supposed to take place today—and it won’t,” he added.
