Response to the colonization of the peninsula: what to expect at the Crimean Stage at the Land of Dreams Ethnofestival’s 20th Anniversary
In addition to a number of locations and theme stages, the 20th anniversary of the Land of Dreams Ethnofestival, will once again feature the Crimean stage “Bağçasaray.”
This was discussed during a press conference at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“Today the Land of Dreams features the Crimean Stage. This is our response to the colonization that is happening on the peninsula. And today, as we talk about the representation of Crimean Tatar culture as an integral part of Ukrainian culture, this represents an important element in the construction of the Ukrainian political nation,” emphasized Alim Aliev, Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Institute.
According Tamila Tasheva, Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Land of Dreams is an ethnofestival, and therefore everything that will be presented at the Crimean Meadow and the Crimean Stage “Bağçasaray” will be based on the ethnic traditions of the Crimean Tatar people.
She pointed out that this year Crimean Meadow will be versatile, as it will include a literary space, a location dedicated to children, artistic activities and unique discussions. Ukrainian politicians and British Ambassador Martin Harris will speak at one of the discussions.
Singer Ismail Kurt-Umer is convinced that such cultural projects are very important, especially for the Crimean Tatars who are currently in Crimea, and it is also important for the Crimean Tatars in the military. Cultural projects can be a very powerful tool, particularly for the global community.
Oleg Skrypka, founder of the Land of Dreams festival, pointed out that such cultural events are a part of what brings the Ukrainian victory closer.
“The festival has its heritage, and of course, we rely on our experience and no longer feel like resistance fighters of the progressive movement. We are confident that we are right, we have historical evidence. I am convinced that with such actions, among other things, we are bringing the victory closer. Back then the war was brewing, and now it is in an active phase, and we are the doctors, the immune system of the nation, which, of course, also includes the cultural component. We will heal, everything will be fine, we will win,” Oleg Skrypka emphasized.
It’s important to note that the twentieth anniversary of the Land of Dreams Ethnofestival will be held in Kyiv from June 21 to 23.
