Respiratory infections in Ukraine to peak between January and February

Health officials are reporting a slight increase in cases of viral respiratory diseases, with the highest numbers of infections expected to surge early next year. 

Oleksii Danylenko, deputy director general of the Public Health Center at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, outlined the outlook during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine. 

“The highest peak [of acute respiratory infections] will occur in January-February, as it does every year,” Danylenko said. “At this point, we are not facing any critical situations. We are seeing only a minor exceedance of the lower epidemic threshold in the Zhytomyr Oblast. Elsewhere, incidence remains at background rates.”
